FITK NEWS – To be equated with the top-leading universities, Islamic Elementary Teacher Education Department (PGMI) of Tarbiyah and Teaching Training Faculty (FITK) continuously teaches students how to be a talented individual. Evidently, this department held the annual student orientation of Sanggar Bina Madrasah (SBM) called by MOAS that will be scheduled from February 24th-26th and continued on March 3rd for singer audition.

“MOAS is a strategic way to recruit talented students. Every student likes singing, music is soothing and the harmonic play of instruments can create joyful classroom atmosphere,” Chief of PGMI Dr. Muhammad Walid, MA said

The MOAS opening agenda in Microteaching auditorium, 2nd floor (24/2)was more appealing than last year event. It was initially to introduce the extracurricular art program for the second semester students.

Surprisingly, by inviting great national musicians who artistically played instruments, the concept of the opening event tended to educatively internalize the power of art and culture that has to be mastered by the Islamic elementary teacher candidates.

Those musicians Joko-Malang (Guitar and Kecapi Jabar), Lana-NTT (Sasando), Redi-Malang (Sape Kalimantan), and Adam-Surabaya (Saxophone) melodically played the traditional and modern instruments, while Rara-Kupang(vocalist) nicely sang songs. Their dazzling melodies were able to hypnotize the audiences to sing together and give big applause.

Muhammad Irfa’i, the student captain of SBM felt fabulous with the MOAS. He said that it is a worthy medium to let the students discover their music passions. “Everybody has to expose an opportunity on their art experiences either music or dance” he said

During MOAS, the 250 registered students in that program will be tested to play instruments by their art lecturer, Joko Prihatin, M.Pd. Besides, those who are interested in dance will be tested by dancer and choreographer Patricia Dwi Septianti, M.Pd. Interview is also required for the students to join this challenging art program. “Of course, we will prioritize the candidates who have high commitment,” Joko said.
